Is it worth using Russian VPN free?

Free VPN services are popular among users because of only one reason – they are free.

But do free VPNs provide people with the same security and privacy, as paid VPNs do?

Undoubtedly, the answer will be negative.

And there is a set of well-grounded reasons:

  • Free VPN services possess less servers and IPs as compared to paid ones. In such a way, the level of confidentiality decreases. Besides, the number of available websites and services is diminished as well.
  • The speed is frequently slow, which makes streaming and torrenting almost impossible.
  • To keep the head above water, free VPNs in Russia are to make money. And unfortunately for its subscribers, the ways to earn money may do much harm to them. Some free VPNs keep and sell data about their users. In such a way, the paramount function of a VPN – privacy – may not be achieved.
  • Free VPN services often contain ads. It is done so on purpose – to earn money. Of course, it is better, than selling data. But it makes your internnet surfing full of pop-up windows with the goods advertized.

It is very clear from these observations that it is impossible to find the best free Rusian VPN. It does not exist. One will benefit a lot having subscribed to one of the best VPNs for Russia desribed here.

I heard that Russia banned VPN services in November, but why are certain VPN providers still keeping VPN servers in Russia? Among them are TigerVPN, NordVPN etc. Another thing I read is that a few months ago P.I.A. closed Russian servers. The next version of this: Russia hasn’t banned VPNs, but according to the law VPN providers should cooperate with the authorities and block the websites which are in the blacklist. I can’t understand what’s going on and whether it is safe to connect via Russian servers…

Here I’d like to share my thoughts regarding the use of VPN services. I use one of them – IPVanish, and it’s fine. It works correctly. What’s more, once I had to contact the support service and they replied within one hour. To my mind, it’s fast enough for a service that is used by thousands of people.

To begin with, I want to tell a story about my experience to use Russian proxy servers. It was ok until I tried to access Netflix. I know that there are different proxies. So, I tried many from free proxy list, which I found on one of the local sites. Once I even thought I was about to find the best free proxy, but soon I was disappointed because of speed and Russian proxy servers’ functions in general. Then, I tried to use Russian VPN online, but again faced the problem – access sites like Netflix and Hulu.

After it, I decided to subscribe to a trustworthy VPN, but faced another problem – what Russian VPN is the best one? And eventually, I’ve found this site – bestvpnrating.com. I found a lot of useful information about internet security. I live in Russia all the time, and the sites in the Russian language don’t have much information about VPNs. So, now I know what to do to use the net securely.
