Measures to be less restricted in Iran

Iran has a reputation for its cruel internet policy. Social networks are prohibited by the government and the efforts to access them being abroad may lead to negative consequences such as jail or even death. Iran residents can hardly read real information about the events taking place in the world.

The authorities of Iran created a triangulated approach, which explains how the country controls those who try to access the information subjected to censorship. The policy of Iran regarding this issue presupposes the following measures:

► Preventative.

 The local authorities prevent the residents of the country from accessing the banned web sites and services. The government assures that they don’t conduct the policy of intimidation. The measures are efficient but not aggressive.

► Interceptive.

The authorities monitor those who make efforts to get access to forbidden services.

► Reactive.

The measures of this group are oriented those who were called people of interest for the authorities.

Thus, it is a child’s play to identify those who try to get access to the banned services and web sites. And the only but efficient way to use desirable services without being revealed is to use a reliable VPN.

How does a VPN for Iran work?

A top-rated VPN service provides its customers with features that are of a high use in such censored countries as Iran.

When connecting to the internet through one of VPN servers your true address is to be shifted for a new one, so that neither your ISP, nor other online users can see your authentic IP.

Besides, having chosen one of the US-based servers, you are able to access any geo-restricted content. Thus, if you need to unblock Facebook or communicate via Telegram while staying in Iran, all you should do is to connect to the internet through one of the US servers.

security-onlineApart from the IP change, all your traffic is to be routed through a secure tunneling created with the help of up-to-date protocols. Due to the protocols and long bit keys all the transferring data is to be encoded and thus unavailable for adversaries and computer fraudsters. In such a way any vulnerable data is to be completely protected by the service.

So, as you see, the best VPN service for Iran is a tool, which is to make your network defended from unauthorized interference and government surveillance. Moreover, the app is optimized for an average user too, which gives you a possibility to get professional assistance from the support team any time you need it.

How to choose the best VPN for Iran?

After a person has taken a decision to subscribe for a VPN in Iran, it is necessary to study some VPN characteristics in order not to get into a trap and find the provider that meets all user’s demand.

Here’s what to take into consideration:

  • a vast variety of server locations;

While living in Iran or visiting the country for business you will be supplied with the local access to the internet, which implies the fact that the WWW differs a lot from the US internet and etc. Therefore, when coming from the US, you’d better subscribe for the best VPN for Iran, which offers at least several servers located there. In this case, you will manage to run your home network even being abroad.

Besides, if you need some advanced functions, such as torrenting or watching streaming services or conducting online negotiations from Iran, you should look for different location. Thus, torrenting is stated to be legal in Spain, Switzerland, Russia and some other countries.

The most in-demand streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, etc are located in the US and demand US IPs for accessing. For conducting negotiations you may need some specific regions to be involved.

  • strong encryption protocols;

For making your generated traffic encoded a VPN service runs several up-to-date protocols and long-term bit-key. With the help of these technologies a tunneling is created between your connected device and a VPN server you are connected to. Being routed through the tunneling all the data becomes encoded and thus inaccessible for any adversaries.

  • unlimited bandwidth;

Having got access to the necessary content it becomes essential if the bandwidth is limited. In this regard it is important to choose a VPN with unlimited bandwidth. Unlimited bandwidth means the plan by which the access to the internet services will not be restricted by the traffic size.

It is vital for Iranians as the VPN work can stop at an awkward time. If a user doesn’t want to face such problems, it is strongly recommended to show preference the VPNs with unlimited bandwidth.

  • trial version or money-back guarantee;

Trial version is definitely the feature to be taken into consideration while choosing a Virtual Private Network in Iran as it allows testing the networks for free.

Would you like to buy a car without a test drive?

Of course, you wouldn’t.

The situation with VPNs is the same. It is impossible to understand whether the provider one has chosen meets the user’s requirements or not. Thus, it is better not to pay for service without trying it beforehand. Otherwise, there is a chance to be dissatisfied with the VPN provider a user paid without testing.

Money-back guarantee is one more important feature to take into account as in case of any troubles with the service one will get money back. In this case a user is protected against any troubles. Furthermore, these two features show the seriousness of the service a VPN provider offers. If a VPN has a free trial and money-back guarantee it means that this provider is trustworthy.

  • support of different payment methods;

This characteristic is to be taken into account as well if one is looking for a VPN for Iran as there are numerous payment methods. Some people prefer cryptocurrency while paying for a VPN service as it allows making a user absolutely anonymous. Others prefer paying by card or with the help of other methods. In general, it is convenient when there is a choice.

  • 24/7 professional technical group assistance.

Support service is a tool that helps users to solve the problems appearing while a VPN use. Some people think that if the support service is available round-the-clock, a product has some defects. But, luckily, it isn’t true. Such service exists to help an average user in registration, navigation, use and what not. The quicker a question is answered the more reliable VPN is chosen. An ideal variant is a live chat communication. In this case all the problems are solved easily and without delay, which makes a VPN use convenient and reliable.

Summary

Perhaps, the residents of Iran need VPNs even more than Americans or Chinese people as the policy conducted in Iran is too strict. Iranians can be within an ace of being sentenced to death because of trying to watch banned for the country content even being abroad.

And what if it happened accidentally?

For example, being on holiday abroad, one can click the web site forbidden in Iran and he or she doesn’t even know about it. The IP will be known for the authorities and the punishment will not make it wait.

So it is not worth taking risks and it is high time to choose the best VPN for Iran and subscribe to it in a matter of minutes.

A VPN will not only make an Iranian unknown for the authorities, but encrypt all the data, messages and get rid its users of malicious software, viruses and annoying pop-up windows.

Total shit is your Turbo VPN. It just makes money on stupid idiots like you!!! I know for certain that they DO keep logs and then make money on users’ data. And I’m sure if the police or any other interested party like these jiggered ISPs need, Turbo VPN will let them know! Like it happened to PureVPN clients! They all are in a fishbowl! It’s better pay than to be open for anyone! I don’t insist that you all subscribe for a VPN after reading my comment. But I just don’t want such people like you to praise such mercenary VPN providers.

I’ve prepared a list of simple tips that will help you while travelling to Iran. But to begin with, I’d like to explain why I decided to do it on this website. It seems to be quite specific in terms of geographical restrictions bypassing, security and what not. But how do they manage to check all the VPN services presented in the section ‘services’ from different countries. I don’t wanna dispute the fact that they do it but I can’t believe it as well. But I really was in Iran and know what I’m going to talk about. First things first! It has never been my dream to go to Iran, I prefer visiting the European countries if I want to get away from it all! But my wife persuaded me to do it setting forth forcefully that unlike our parents and grandparent we have a chance to travel and see the world, get to know how other people live, study their cultures, habits and blah blah blah… I know that I could face trouble with the net while going there. It wasn’t my own conclusion, but the bank officer advised me to do it. Before going to Iran I had to open an international account. And the officer said that it’s recommended to use VPNs while being abroad and using online bank account. Well, I installed VPN on my iPhone and laptop running on MacOS. To cut a long story short, it should be mentioned that I haven’t faced any troubles with my banking details, nor any troubles I faced with the access to the services I used. Also I’d like to point out that before going to Iran I’ve read that Gmail in Iran doesn’t work. Don’t believe it! It all rumors! It works and quite good. BUT! The point is that the speed was quite slow! I don’t know exactly what influenced it: local ISP, or the VPN but it is the fact! All in all, I can’t judge the VPN I used in Iran as nothing new except slow speed was noticed.

Hi Trevor! VPN services may slow down the speed of the internet connection. It happens when a user connects his or her device to the VPN server located far away from the targeted website’s server. Besides, the problems with the speed are possible in case you have opted for a free VPN service for Iran. The thing is that free VPN services are usually overloaded with the users. That is why it becomes hardly possible to use them. Also you have mentioned that you haven’t faced any problems while using the Internet in Iran. It happened so as you have used VPN. Connecting to one of VPN servers located in the place you inhabit, you surf the Internet as if you are in your country, but not abroad.

The truth is yours, Stephanio75! I’ve forgotten the idea to use free VPNs in Iran like TurboVPN so long-long ago. If paid VPNs aren’t always honest in terms of logs, what could be said about free ones? Nothing good! And it’s clear why. The writers of this site repeat the key-phrase regularly ‘free VPNs are to make money’. But how if they are free? That’s why they keep logs with the purpose of further selling. Now I’ll explain why to use VPN for Iran. If you want to know how is it to surf the net as an average Iranian person, connect to Iran IP address through a VPN service and you will get to know all the ‘beauty’ of the local internet censorship and other stuff that restrict the local residents and the tourists. Nikolas Faslow, the author of this article is quite right including ExpressVPN in the list of the best VPN services for Iran. Having subscribed for Express VPN Ian Internet becomes absolutely different, as you browse the network as if you are a resident of the country IP of which you have connected to. I understand that it’s not so easy to imagine, but I try to explain it in the most comprehensive manner. Remember my tip: if you decide to browse with an Iranian IP address from abroad, you will get access to the sites that are seen for the Iranians. And yes, your traffic will be encrypted. It may sound goods for someone, but not for those, who prefers surfing the net without limits.

So I Guess you know about one of the most secure methods of payment – Bitcoin. ExpressVPN gives its subscribers this great opportunity to become close to 100% anonymous while browsing the Internet. Paying for subscription with Bitcoin, no one will know who you are and where you are located.

Prviz, I also live in Iran and can’t say that there is any good free VPN Iran server that enables all the possible services. When I visited the USA last year I found many good apps that aren’t accessible in Iran and website as well. For example, there are many streaming services that don’t work in Iran, but VPNs enable them. But TurboVPN isn’t as great as you describe it! Having free VPN download you could fall into a trap. And what is even more dreadful, getting access to US streaming services, you won’t stream no matter how strange it may sound. I’ll explain. TurboVPN as any other free VPN service has slow speed, thus streaming becomes hardly possible because of regular pauses and stops. Few servers won’t help to bypass censorship successfully. You may believe me or not, but know what I say.

I’m really interested in insightful learning of such tech things, when everything is described in detail and I see that the authors brings the VPNs’ descriptions into focus for is – users. I know that many of the VPNs of the rating are compatible with mobile device. But could anyone help me to find the best mobile VPN service. I once tried to install one free VPN on my smartphone. But it was very uneasy for me. If I’m not mistaken it was connected somehow with OpenVPN. But I don’t remember for sure, what was it: a VPN or a protocol. Coz I know that there are both VPN and VPN protocol with the same name. I even couldn’t change the servers. So I found out what server I was connected to through ‘what’s my IP’ site. It identified my IP, and only after it, I knew what sites I’d manage to open. If I was connected to Australian server, I opened Pandora for example. If I was connected to American VPN server, I opened Netflix. And what I dislike most of all is that I had to restart the mobile every time I wanted to change my IP. T’was totally inconvenient. Maybe there was another way to do it, but I couldn’t find it.

Hi Hester! I dare suppose that you used the VPN service that didn’t presuppose a client. To put it simple, it is more difficult to set up and use such services, as a person is to be technically advanced and have special knowledge in this sphere. If you want to run the VPN app on your smartphone, it is necessary to subscribe for a VPN that is compatible with the operating system your device is running on. All the VPN services mentioned in the article are compatible with Android and iOS (most common OSes for smartphones). Besides, the VPNs of the rating offer apps, which make it convenient to use them on portable gadgets.

Thank you very much for this article. It is quite full-length and understandable for even a non-technical reader. You are very right that if a person is going to visit Iran it is necessary to change IP location to a different country. For example, of a person comes from Australia, it will be better for him to browse with Australian IP. In this case when a person will be looking for a something through a search engine, the results will be usual for people surfing the net with an Australian IP. Otherwise, a person will have to browse with an Iranian IP address, which may lead to some difficulties with the access to some sites. But as for me the article is concentrated on non-average users. What I want to say is that an average internet user is not interested in such features as bandwidth, Kill Switch NAT Firewall, logging and others while looking for the best VPN for Iran. The only thing that bothers such people (including me) is how to download a VPN in Iran and get access to the banned content online. Also it would be great if you advice not only paid VPNs for Iran but free VPN for Iran also! The majority of Iranians can’t afford paying for such services. And the cost of 5-7 dollars a month is too expensive for many of the locals. I understand that using VPN in Iran will help to bypass the restrictions of the country, but how to do it cost-free?

Hi Satishtu, I understand your interest in free VPNs for Iran, but at the same time I can’t share your enthusiasm about free VPN services. You are to understand that free VPNs have their weak points. For example, Kill Switch function allows protecting a user against DNS leak that is essential if one does NOT want to be caught while torrenting, as an example. Your privacy is to be a concern for you, or the ISP will identify you while torrenting or accessing the censored website and the consequences may be negative for you. That is the reason why it is recommended to opt for paid VPN services for Iran. But if you are ready to try a free VPN for Iran, read our article about the best free VPNs in 2018.
