Great post! I am keen on this country and know a lot about this country. Indeed, it has a neutral position in regards to internet freedom. Just one example to prove it! A year ago, I read that one of Norwegian newspaper published a report about Vietnam war with a photo of a naked nine-year-old girl. Facebook banned posting this photo on the social network. In response The letter was sent to Mark Zuckerberg, accusing him of abusing his power and breaking the right for freedom of speech.

Norway is blocking dozens of websites. ISPs offer free music streaming, throttling some streaming services. A VPN is a good solution to unblock the websites you want. My preference is NordVPN, decent one!

How fast are the VPNs in the list? Do they slow down internet connections? I live in a rural area and more often I get 10 mb/s down.
reply November 27, 2017
Maricela, thank you for the questions. The VPN services in the list have fast enough servers. Nevertheless, one can’t guarantee you perfect performance if your internet too slow. It also depends on the server location you get connected to. I would recommend you to get connected to the closest servers. German ones are believed to be the fastest, for instance.

Useful article! My respect. I have a friend of mine who was looking for a VPN to use so she can access to the same sites I can. I think VPN is the real thing for what she needs, something that allows her to surf the internet and watch Netflix as if she is located in the US. I’ve tried to help her get a perfect VPN she could use so we can watch Netflix without her running into failing to access. Luckily for me I’ve found your website with this awesome article. I’ve read the info, run through the list of the best VPNs for Norway and found VyprVPN. Without any doubt, this is a great fit for Norway since they are a European country. They have a no-logging policy, support all the major operating systems and use the strongest security. Many thanks! Which one would you recommend for China (we are going for holidays there)

Thanks for the warm comment. We appreciate that our post is helpful for you! VyprVPN is a good variant to watch Netflix in Norway. As far as China is concerned, you need a really strong VPN service that will manage to unblock Chinese Firewall. It is well-known that internet censorship is strict enough there, and plenty of them are blocked for users with local IPs. I would recommend you this post where you will find our top VPNs for China.

Agree with Ryan. It is a worthwhile post to read. I like the part where you recommend how to choose VPN. It is so clear now. Thanks, Sara. I see that VPN service is a multi-functional tool. It hides IP address, encrypts traffic and others. Can I torrent with one of the offered top VPN services in Norway? Can I feel private with them?

I heard about net neutrality in the EU. What’s going on in Norway? Do local ISPs throttle?

reply November 06, 2017
The situation is not negative for the most part. Their ISP market is generally pretty distributed, there are various providers, and larger ones keep the smallest under pressure. Though, a friend of mine who lives in Norway told me that some sites are blocked or restricted.
reply October 03, 2017
I believe that free VPN is not bad if using just for unblocking websites. You just need to change your IP. Moreover, you can download them for free and in such a way you may find a good one for you. Why not? Don’t agree with the point that free services are useless.

Hi, I have a question: if a VPN plan offer three simultaneous connections per one account, can I use them for different platforms or I have to use it for Androids or Macs only?
reply September 08, 2017
Hanki, thanks for the question. It doesn’t matter what platform you will use a VPN for. They can be different, any device you need it for, but if it is compatible with it.
